Brunei Trip!

hoho! today is friday the 13th! and i am jason roaming ard hohoohoo =p i am back frm brunei le...guess many ppl know tt i am back le ba...cosz when i alight frm my flight...haha i mass msg frens ard tt i am back =D! but i called my dad the first okie! =x....family still more impt =p....What happened over the 10 days in brunei leh? haha actually i am kinda lazy to blog out everything but i will try my best k cosz kinda boring to keep typing hereee....

I was on SQ8992 2am flight to Brunei on the 3rd of jan 2006 and it's a gd experience as it's my 2nd time on a jetplanez =D...din manage to get the window seats but it remind mi alot of my course of study when i was in poly =D haha how do planes fly.....y r the wings moving? can the wings really move?.....wat r aerodynamics?...fuel:weight ratio? aircraft structure? and lots morez....for those interested to know more abt aircraft can feel free to question mi....=D i might know some of the answers =D....whee! plane took off and it's 1600++km across the south china sea to Brunei...took ard 1 hour 40 mins and guess wat? i tune in to charlie and the chocolate factory hahaha....watch until i fell aslp zzZZz....i miss the meal on the plane as i was bz slping....

We hopped on to a bus and haf a light breakfast over there....a long bus trip to J. A. camp....duno can spell it out ornot leh...better dun =D....then on 2 hour boat trip thru the river and into one of the town in brunei.....hopped on to another bus and 30 mins more ride....ding ding dong dong....11++am when we reached the L. camp....had our lunch which tasted aweful...=p....and haf to wash those plates ourselves...

Took one whole day to settle down everything....revision on things tt we will require in da jungle and lights off!...oh ya....the bed there r damn lok kok lo....SPONGE bed and spring across metal frames...it's like 20-30 yr old kind of bed....ehh....duno lehz...nv see this kind of bed b4 in my life LOL....

 Let mi share with u all a kind of insect over there in brunei =D...it's called cicada...

One funny thing abt this insect is tt the 17-year periodical cicadas will burrow through the earth and pop up after 17 yrs and spend 6 weeks out creating trouble for us LOL....it's kinda irritating to see them....and the loud buzzing sound is rather annoying....alot of insects can be seen there....and there's a cockroach look-alike whereby when u blow it...it will flip upside down acting tt it's dead...but after a min or 2....haha it will do a flip back and continue to move ard...interesting? lolz....

We were introduced to the jungle the following day with a instructor ard guiding us the things tt we should avoid....plants tt r thorny....haha....there's a brief on things we might expect in the jungle like viper snakes...bears....army ants....and thorn plants which can cause bad bad bad injury on us =D....luckily...my detail did not meet such disaster =D....i lead the grp to one of the checkpoint and i was feeling quite happy cosz the instructor said my sense of direction in da jungle was gd =D....it's been there ever since i am in scouts (8 yrs in scouting cheers! once a scout always a scout!)...when i navigate in the jungle....there's a feeling which will give mi directions....hard to explain but maybe next time u all feel lost....u all might encounter wat i am trying to say....=D....enuff of the bhb stuff lolz....

We had our combat swim across the river the next day and it's very fun haahaa....they said rivers in brunei do haf crocodiles and water snakes but i think it's safe for us when we r crossing ba.....Surprise surprise...if u think that water in the muddy river cant drink? u r wrong...the taste of the river water is rather sweet and refreshingz...i drank some while swimming over it....haha...funz...first time swim in boots -_-!

Here it is....we will in the brunei jungle for 4 days with 72hours of rations and we got to depend on ourselves....18 of us...inside...lolz....a big grp right?....last time they used to haf JCC and it's 1 person survive inside de....i find tt very interesting...and it's 21 days in brunei compared to mine which is only 10 days....First day was to move ard in the jungle finding checkpoints and water source`....the terrain is soo soo soo different frm singapre....upslope....downstream...lots of obstacles....and require alot of leg power....to move 100-200 metre...u might need ard 30-45 mins....and here's a tip to share...whenever u see thorn plants...it means u r near a water source =D....

Ard 4.30 we haf to look for a place to habour and it started to rain while we r setting up a place to rest....haizz....wat a nite....wet nite....everything is wet including my boots and just endure.....the skin under our feet wrinkle until Nua nua tt kind...and i woke up in the middle of the nite for guard duty and i shiver like hell....it's soo cold and dark inside where u hardly can see ur own fingers as the moonlight there is not working OT haha =p...

2nd day....trying hard to move all the way north to a midpoint called PP....the terrain again was fuk up up-down up down up downz....shag sia.....of cos with the heavy load on our shoulder....a guy in our detail start to get cramps ard and i started drinking most of the SUGARY drink whenever i can....cosz once u cramp...u will keep on cramping LOL....is tt lousy english? i suppose so...who cares =p....

reached our PP ard 12 noon and took a bus to another place....haha along the way we saw cows and cow Dungs! omgz....we walked thru a man made bridge called the piano bridge....cosz it's made of many wooden blocks just like a piano....wow...the river is damn scary....and i guess...once u drop in...tt's it...lolz....here's a joke to share...u know y there's alot of cow dung? haha...cosz when the cow wanted to cross the bridge....saw the river rushing soo fast.....scare until shit lo....LOL....

really full of shit sia along the track and we r off to another place rdy to climb Mountain Biang which is 1388 feet high....By the time we reached the foot of Mt. Biang...nite fall and OMG...again it rainedzz....but this time round we got a gd habouring spot whereby most of us crowd ard overlapping our shelter and had a pretty gd nite over there =D

Next dayz....woke up early in da morning with a mission in mind...tt's to climb up the mountain and rush off to the finishing point by 4pm...if not....must stay another nite out in the jungle again....with this motivation...we had another river crossing off to Mt.Biang and Freak...i fell into a stupid small river while crossing on a log....cut my thumb cosz of the stupid thorn plant....it's okiez...procced on....

Without much rest...we just kept moving and moving up the mountain...it's very steep...n up up up up.....ppl start having cramps and we got no choice but to help them lighten their load....my shoulders r god damn heavy cosz i took another 1.5 water bottle and some packs frm the injured guy....2 guys down...and we move kinda slower than we expected...

Finally we reached the top of Mt. Biang...Really WA PIANG ehz....lolz...stupid Mt. Biang and it's really nothing at the top of tt knoll....only filled with trees...tt's it....rest for awhile and it's time to rush down to the end point whereby a boat will be waiting for us there....all these reminds mi of playing game sia....it's like a timing and u r leading or with a grp of men....rushing to meet the boat....if not ur mission will fail or something? lolz....

Moving down the Mountain was horrible as there r 2 routes...4hour route and 6 hour route...kinda very difficult to find the correct routes and there r boulders everywhere....i wun forget this in my life cosz i had a super bad fall...lol....it will be explained in the following picture....

wa lau eh...when i jump down frm the log onto the boulder....i sliped and hit hard onto the boulder....my lungs liver and my heart nearly cough out plus the weight on my back....omg...really like turtle stuck and cannot move sia...lolz....i lie down there flat for awhile b4 getting up and my fren tot i broke my back lolz....Farking painful! =x

Bash thru alot of shit....up down hills....cross rivers....saw frens fell into river....stepping onto unknown terrain without much confidence where we r on the map....it's so stress and we r 1 hour left to our end point...omg...no one wana stay another nite out in da jungle...and we all like kept shouting at each other to move on...the pace is like running and crossing all the obstacle at a go....my legs and knees got soo tight tt i hit a cramp too while walking...tt kind of experience...it's very hard to put in words....and we just hit north all the way hoping to find a river and it's all abt sense of direction towards the ending of our navigation....we just walk with feeling....

4.05pm!....we crashed down to our knees upon reaching the boat site and thx god that we r allowed to cross the river and return back to camp....WHooo....there are 20 teams inside the jungle...only 6 grps manage to finish it in 3 days....and out of these 6....4 grps r frm armour =D heehee....our whole vocation came back together and tt's abt it...

Clean up and settle all the admin stuffs....tt's abt it ba....maybe i did miss out alot of things in brunei....but tt's for the training part...We had a 1 day tour at the last day of our trip....and we went to mosque and water village...wow...the town area is very different frm the place we trained and we visit the families in da water village...ppl over there can visit each other's house in and out just lidat and only those ppl who marry ppl in the water village can build a house in da water village....

Facts abt brunei...

By paying just 1 dollar u can travel to anywhere of brunei on bus...for education...u only haf to pay for the textbooks and food all provided...it cost ard 2000 to get a 2nd hand car in brunei and guess wat? the sultan got 3000 over cars and a black hawk up his sleeves....it's very peaceful overthere and if u did well...u r given a piece of land to build big big houses....aircon in most of the houses as it's very hot during the day....the scorching sun can really fry an egg...and boil ur blood within u =D....

I bought a PUMA sling bag...LV wallet...2 soccer figurines....and few badges for myself....things over there u can definately get it in sg...nothing special...and tt's abt it....yawn....tired after blogging all these...hope u all did pick up some facts and learned some things after reading my entry...=D....enjoyzzz i go watch full house =D
